Similarities between Star Wars Episode IV and Bambi

A new theory about where the idea came from

S tar Wars is a classic tale of a boy coming to terms with his father's misdeeds. Many people have made comparisons, some more convincing than others, with Shakespeare (Ian Doescher rewrote Episode IV in the style of an Elizabethan era play), Buck Rogers, the King Arthur tale, Akira Kurosawa's movie Dersu Uzala, and Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen.

Bambi
Scene from Bambi Strikes Back

Feh. Am I the only one who noticed that Star Wars and Bambi are the same story? Here is the evidence.

  • Luke's father the Dark Lord kept his distance from Luke. Bambi's father, known as the Old Prince, kept his distance from Bambi.
  • In the “I am your father” scene, Bambi is distraught after his father reveals that he had concealed his identity from him. Upon discovering who his real father is, Luke Skywalker becomes distraught and promptly falls into a giant exhaust port.
  • Bambi's mother got burned and died in a fire. Luke Skywalker's mother was Padmé Amidala, who died. Also, Luke's father got burned in a pool of molten lava.
  • Both Luke and Bambi were constantly on the run from The Man.
  • Bambi was taught about the green leafy forest and about people by his relatives. Luke was taught about his relatives in a leafy forest by a green person.
  • Luke was accompanied by a wookiee, a gay robot, and a mailbox, and was warned about the “force” by a wise Jedi. Bambi acted gay and was accompanied by a rabbit and a skunk and is warned about sex by an wise owl.
  • In the book Bambi learns there is “Another” who rules over all creatures. Yoda tells Obi-Wan Kenobi that “No, there is Another.”
  • Bambi was turned into a cartoon by Disney. Star Wars was taken over by Disney and turned into a cartoon-like movie using CGI.
  • Luke flies through the woods on a landspeeder accompanied by some furry woodland creatures, and fires a missile into the Death Star's unprotected exhaust port. Bambi gets exhausted running through the woods with his friends and is accompanied by some furry woodland creatures.
  • The hunters in Bambi keep missing him. The storm troopers in Star Wars cannot hit the broad side of a barn.
  • The sequel to Bambi has Bambi's children escaping from the Nazis. The sequel to Star Wars has Storm Troopers, which are Nazis.

Next week: similarities between the Easter Bunny and the Antichrist. Is the Easter Bunny really the manifestation of Satan? If not, how do you explain that sulfurous smell a week after every Easter?
